Day 3 in Martha’s Vineyard started out with a ferry ride on the HiLine Ferry that took an hour. I met a very nice gentleman who lives on Martha’s Vineyard in Edgartown who told us the best places to eat as well as a place called Pepe’s in New Haven that we should visit.
The day was great, we visited most of the island and had a nice lunch at the Seafood Shanty in Edgartown before going to the ‘Black Dog’ to buy some t-shirts. Undoubtably, the black dog is recognized world wide. So I will wear this shirt whenever I travel the world. heh.
After meeting another nice native of Martha’s Vineyard, this time on the local bus, we were able to find directions to a the restaurant mentioned above for lunch where we ran into a family from Mandeville, LA. After visiting with them, we walked down the block to Murdick’s for some fudge.
It is amazing but most of the buildings, houses, etc. do not have air conditions here. After finishing up our visit to Martha’s Vineyard, we headed back to Hyannis where we drove to see the Kennedy compound. Unfortunately, none of the Kennedy’s were home so they were unable to invite us in for tea, but maybe next time.
Tomorrow, we will visit New Port, RI and stay the day and night. Then we will wake and drive to New Haven, Conn. on Saturday to visit Yale.
