Olympic Lake Lanier

LSU Crew took a road trip to Gainesville, GA this weekend to compete in the 2006 Lanier Sprints (a 2K rowing race). This course at Lake Lanier was home of the 1996 Olympic rowing and canoeing events. This is the same year the Muhammad Ali lit the Olympic torch.

Good Morning, from the LSU Rowing Club. We practice at 5:30 a.m. and we love it. We do more in the morning before most people wake up than most people do in normal day time hours.

Currently we are undertaking a project to rebuild and relocate our dock (your dock) for safety reasons as well as efficiency. The old dock is literally falling apart and it is time to build a new one.

I have taken pictures of the old dock, of some of our novice crew in the boats this morning as well as the hopefully future site of the dock.

first day back (rowing)

Today was the first day back with the rowing team, only, we did not row.

Beginning at 4:30, I ate breakfast then headed to LSU and where our boats lie while listening to Prince Caspian (the 4th book in the Chronicles of Narnia series). So, yeh, being a hardcore morning person, I was the first person at practice by far. Practice started at 5:30 with a light jog to the parade ground then we did sprints and jogging – sprints and jogging to start preparing for the “sprints” we will do in the boats soon enough. Then we did some situps and more running, then some pushups and then we jogged back to the docking area via sorority row. Good first day. Until tomorrow morning at 4:30 a.m.
