It is an honor to be selected for the third year as a Manship School of Mass Communication Outstanding Student. Last year, I was selected as Most Outstanding Junior for the school, one year after being selected Most Outstanding Sophomore.
It was a fun night. Â Some music students played their instruments, a local church brought their bell choir and played the bells, the ballroom dance team (and my friend Smoot Carter) danced on the steps of the memorial tower and then “Santa” told a good ‘ole cajun Christmas story with Mike the Tiger and the cheerleaders gathered around little children.
The 2006 Spring Soiree // Cocktail attire // hosted by the College Republicans at LSU.
My term as the President of the College Republicans at LSU ended last night at our Spring Soiree. Our guest speakers included Mrs. Phyllis Taylor who spoke on education and State Rep. Peppi Bruneau who spoke on Rebuilding Louisiana and the New Orleans mayoral election.
“The graduation rate at LSU is 60%, the average US college graduation rate is 58%,” said Mrs. Taylor, this is partly because students in Louisiana have the TOPS program. Taylor went on to say that it was a bad idea to move the power of tuition and fee increases from the state congress to the board of supervisors. The state congress has that power for a reason, to protect students from having fee increases at every available whim.
Other special guests in attendance included Louisiana State University Chancellor Sean O’Keefe, Dr. Dan Kyle (LAGOP), Dr. William Cassidy (Sponsor/Candidate State Senate District 16), State Rep. AG Crowe, Mike Francis (Sec. of State Candidate), Mrs. Lou Pentecost (Republican Women).
My thanks goes out to everyone who supported me in my role as CR President and continues to support me in all my future endeavors. And a special thanks to my mom and dad!
LSU Crew took a road trip to Gainesville, GA this weekend to compete in the 2006 Lanier Sprints (a 2K rowing race). This course at Lake Lanier was home of the 1996 Olympic rowing and canoeing events. This is the same year the Muhammad Ali lit the Olympic torch.

Good Morning, from the LSU Rowing Club. We practice at 5:30 a.m. and we love it. We do more in the morning before most people wake up than most people do in normal day time hours.
Currently we are undertaking a project to rebuild and relocate our dock (your dock) for safety reasons as well as efficiency. The old dock is literally falling apart and it is time to build a new one.
I have taken pictures of the old dock, of some of our novice crew in the boats this morning as well as the hopefully future site of the dock.
Today was the first day back with the rowing team, only, we did not row.
Beginning at 4:30, I ate breakfast then headed to LSU and where our boats lie while listening to Prince Caspian (the 4th book in the Chronicles of Narnia series). So, yeh, being a hardcore morning person, I was the first person at practice by far. Practice started at 5:30 with a light jog to the parade ground then we did sprints and jogging – sprints and jogging to start preparing for the “sprints” we will do in the boats soon enough. Then we did some situps and more running, then some pushups and then we jogged back to the docking area via sorority row. Good first day. Until tomorrow morning at 4:30 a.m.
James Carville spoke today at LSU (Journalism Bldg. Holliday Forum). The only thing of value that I took from Mr. Carville is “if you find what you like to do, go ahead and do it and don’t fear that you will fail because the better you are at failure the better you will be at success.” Besides that, look it’s Patrick Downs!

Whether you actually meant to stop by the site or you randomly and haphazardly stumbled here while surfing the web, I hope that the site can be of some value to you today.
First let me explain a few things. First, this is my blog (Paul Dietzel II). The site was created sometime in 2002 but has undergone many changes from name-changes to design-changes. Over the years, the site has morphed from a general blog to a photoblog to a business website back to a photoblog and now to a multi-purpose photo, video and thought driven site. I post my thoughts, my photos, my videos and snapshots of projects on which I am currently working.
This is my personal site, so if you are interested in any of the services offered by my company, please visit 210Corp.com.
